This page is dedicated to the memory of a Massachusetts state trooper who lost his life in the line of duty. Though I never knew him personally, our paths crossed on a night that could have ended very differently.
That evening, I found myself in a situation where I truly believed my life was about to end. The circumstances were dire, the outcome uncertain. But as fate would have it, it was not my time yet.
While I survived that night, he did not. His courage and commitment to service meant that others, including myself, would live to see another day, but in a weird way, which I will later explain, as I felt his spirit go through me, and say; "Write." So I started writing again.
I've mentioned fragments of this experience on social media, but this is the first time I'm sharing the full context. His death reminded me of the fragility of life and the importance of using whatever time we have to create, to express, and to honor those who give everything.
This page is my small tribute not just to him, but to all service members and first responders who put themselves in harm's way for the safety of others. Their courage echoes across time and space, even reaching as far as Mars.
