The Mars Abyss

THE PALE HORSE

From his observatory on Mars, the Regent watches a transmission from a world he once called home. There are no speeches, no declarations, no witty remarks. For once, the leader of a new world is utterly silent, reminded of the one he left behind.

"And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth."
- Revelation 6:8

This transmission shows the suffering that continues to plague Earth - the wars, the hunger, the natural disasters. The Regent watches in solemn silence, knowing that humanity's self-destructive path continues unabated.

The Regent watches, and remembers. Some truths are universal.
